Add chat to your website
Your receptionist can chat with visitors on your website. You register your website address in Bectify, copy a short piece of code, called a snippet, and paste it into your site once. The chat bubble appears on every page.
Add your website address
The chat only answers on the website you register.
- Go to your receptionist's page and select Setup.
- Open the card titled Add your receptionist's name to your website.
- Under Your website, type the address where you'll paste the code, like www.example.com. It must be a secure site (https).
- Select Save website.
To use a different website later, select Change. Only an owner or admin can set the website.
Copy your snippet
Select Copy snippet. The button changes to Copied. If the copy doesn't work, select the code in the box and copy it by hand.
Paste it into your site
- Open your website's editor, where it lets you add custom code.
- Paste the snippet into the HTML, just before the closing
</body>tag. - Save and publish your site.

Check that it works
- Open your published website in a new window. The chat won't answer in a site builder's editor or preview.
- Look for the chat bubble and send a message.
- Your receptionist answers, and the chat shows up in your Inbox.
If the card says chat isn't ready
If you see Your web chat code will appear here once setup finishes., wait. The code appears by itself when setup is done.
Good to know
- You don't need to paste the snippet again if you rename your receptionist or change what it knows.
- If you move the chat to a different website, change the address on the card too, or the chat won't answer there.
- Remove the snippet from your site at any time to take the chat bubble away.
