Connect WhatsApp
Connecting WhatsApp lets customers message your business on WhatsApp. You do it once, from Settings. Only an owner or admin of the account can connect or disconnect WhatsApp.
Before you start
- You need a Facebook login. Meta opens a window where you create or pick your WhatsApp Business account.
- If you use your own business number, it can't stay on the WhatsApp app on a phone.
- Allow pop-ups for the portal, so the Meta window can open.
Connect a number
- Go to Settings › Integrations.
- Under Channels, select WhatsApp.
- Under "Which number should customers message?", choose Your Bectify number (if it is offered) or Your own business number. If you choose your own number, enter it with its country code.
- Select Connect WhatsApp.
- In the Meta window, sign in with Facebook and follow the steps. Keep the portal page open.
- When Meta asks for a verification code: if you chose your Bectify number, the code appears on the portal page. If you chose your own number, Meta sends the code to that number by text message or phone call.
After the Meta window closes, the page shows In progress while your number is set up. This usually takes a few minutes. The page checks for updates every 30 seconds, and you can select Check status.
When the status is Active, your number is registered and customers can reach you on WhatsApp.
If you see "Registration coming soon"
WhatsApp connection is not available on your account yet. See "Contact Bectify support".
If the page asks you to accept an invitation
Some accounts need one more step before the number goes live.
- Open Meta Business Manager, then Requests › Partner Requests.
- Accept the invitation shown there.
If the number is already in use
The number is registered on another WhatsApp account or platform. Remove it there first.
- On a personal WhatsApp: open WhatsApp on your phone, then Settings › Account › Delete my account.
- On another business platform: log in to that platform and disable two-step verification for the number. Wait 7 days, then select Try again.
Disconnect WhatsApp
- Go to Settings › Integrations › WhatsApp.
- Select Disconnect WhatsApp.
- Confirm with Disconnect.
Customers will no longer be able to reach you on WhatsApp at that number. Your approved message templates stay with your WhatsApp Business account. You can connect a number again afterwards.
